The Reka Fly Fishing Academy breaks the stereotype of fly fishing being an expensive, unattainable hobby and instead utilizes it’s unique location in the Eastern Sierra to emphasize how much fun it is to learn how to catch a fish.
WHAT IS IT?
In conjunction with the McGee Creek Trout Ponds and Pokonobe Marina at Lake Mary, Reka is offering 2 hour sessions with local professional fly fishing guides for $79/person. You will get a taste for how a fly rod and reel work along with being able to get into the water with our waders and boots.
Our goal is to educate youth and adults by gaining the appropriate skills needed to have an enjoyable day on the water.
HOW IT WORKS
During your academy session we will be covering the following topics:
-Gear Breakdown: How to set up and use a fly rod and reel
-What Do Fish Eat?: Basic entomology and knowing which fly to use
-Casting: Multiple casting techniques for any situation
-Fish Handling: Proper catch and release techniques with a net
*Reka Academy is closed for the 2019 Fishing Season. Look out for 2020 season opener!
